As contemporary forms meet vernacular elements creating a sensorial bombardment of textures and styles, the Gururaj residence is an abode of ecological sensitivity. Situated on a 2400 sq ft plot in Judicial layout off Kanakapura Road, this contemporary residence is ecologically sensitive in terms of orientation, materials used and the overall planning. The design requirement called for a 2bhk house for the parents in the ground floor and a 3bhk duplex house for the client in the first and second floor. This contemporary yet sustainable residence instantly captures its viewers with its uniqueness. Extensive use of natural materials such as stabilized earth blocks and stone creates distinctive surfaces of varied textures and yet synchronizes to perfection. The mindful interlink of form and materials along with filler slabs and terracotta jaalis makes this residence an epitome of ecological sustainability while simultaneously elevating its aesthetic appeal.
